Senator Udall Hosts Sportsmen’s Roundtable

On September 12, CSF’s Western States Manager Andy Treharne attended a sportsmen’s roundtable meeting hosted by Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus member Senator Mark Udall (CO) in Denver, Colorado. The meeting served as an opportunity for Senator Udall to solicit the opinions of Colorado sportsmen and women on a wide variety of conservation-related topics and highlight his efforts to pass the Target Practice and Marksmanship Training Support Act (S. 1249). As a key component of the Sportsmen’s Act of 2012, this legislation would adjust the Pittman-Robertson Act to provide states with the additional resources necessary to create and maintain new and existing shooting ranges throughout the country. Other topics discussed at the roundtable included: the 2012 Farm Bill; siting and permitting of renewable energy projects that affect wildlife habitat; the U.S. Forest Service’s Legacy Roads and Trails Program; the impacts of Endangered Species Act listings on hunting and fishing access; and the potential impacts of withholding revenues from the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Programs and Boating Safety Trust fund if sequestration occurs.
