Former Caucus Co-Chairs Pass The Baton

Washington, DC - Feburary 10 - The official changing of the guard took place last night as the incoming Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus Co-Chairs were formally passed the legislative baton on behalf of hunters and anglers.
Gathering together were former CSC Co-Chairs and representatives of the hunting and fishing community to welcome the new standard barriers of sportsmen's issues in the 111th Congress.
Upon accepting his masters jacket of the sportsmen's arena, the new House Caucus Co-Chair, Representative Dan Boren said, "It is an honor to be among an elite group of Members of Congress, who are so passionate about hunting and fishing. We have a big agenda before us, but we have a lot of shoulders to the wheel. I want to thank the CSF for all they do in harnessing the sportsmen's community to get the job done."
Representative Dan Boren joins an elite group of 26 Members of Congress who have served as Caucus Co-Chairs of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus since its founding in 1989.
Addressing the Caucus Co-Chairs, CSF President Jeff Crane said, "This organization has been effective for the last 20 years for the simple fact that members of the Sportsmen's Caucus stand up for sportsmen."
Comments by the leadership of the CSC focused on the key role policy plays in ensuring generations the ability to enjoy hunting and fishing.
"We are just one generation away from the decline of hunting as we know it. Championing pro-active legislation is a vital key to ensuring that does not happen. Through CSF and their partners we need to do all we can to push through the sportsmen's agenda in the U.S. Congress."
Caucus Co-Chair, Sen. Mike Crapo
"While much of the dialogue in Washington, DC is centered on partisan politics, that is not the case when it comes to sportsmen's issues. The proof of the effectiveness of CSC and CSF working together in a bi-partisan fashion is in the legislative accomplishments on behalf of sportsmen since these two organizations were established 20 years ago. We have a great opportunity and responsibility to do great things for the future of hunting and fishing through legislation." Caucus Vice-Chair, Sen. Jon Tester
"The policies we put in place pave the way for future generations. The freedoms we enjoy today cannot be taken for granted . The CSC takes its role seriously to ensure hunting and fishing continues into the future."Caucus Vice-Chair, Sen. John Thune
"What we are doing today is all about tomorrow. That is what the CSC is all about, making sure the next generation enjoys what we enjoy today. We cannot underestimate the agenda of groups who want to end hunting for the next generation."Former Caucus Co-Chair, Sen. Saxby Chambliss
Showing they are not just legislators that talk the talk, the members of the CSC can also walk the walk. Former Caucus Co-Chair Mike Thompson pointed out that he had hunted with every member in the room and commented that not only would Cong. Dan Boren be an excellent standard barrier for the Caucus, but that he is also an excellent shot.
