Canadian Wildlife Federation Honors CSF Board Member Phil Morlock

June 17, 2010 (WASHINGTON, DC) - Phil Morlock, Member of the CSF Board of Directors and Director of Environmental Affairs for Shimano, recently received the Roderick Haig-Brown Award from the Canadian Wildlife Federation for his contributions to fishing and conservation of Canada’s recreational fisheries.

“I am honored to receive the professional recognition that this award represents in the name of one of our greatest conservation leaders and writers – Roderick Haig-Brown, and I look forward to continuing to work on behalf of the conservation and sustainable use of fish and wildlife which are so much a part of our outdoor heritage,” said Morlock.

The Roderick Haig-Brown Award is named in honor of one of Canada’s greatest outdoorsman and writers. Haig-Brown was a pioneering conservationist in the areas of sustainable use and conservation of Pacific salmon and steelhead and the streams and habitat.

In recognition of its role in developing a strong national voice for the recreational use of Canada’s fisheries resources, the Canadian Wildlife Federation established the Roderick Haig-Brown Award in 1985.

Individuals who have made a significant contribution to furthering the sport of angling and the conservation of Canada’s recreational fisheries are eligible for this award. Morlock was nominated for the award by his peers at the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters.

“No one individual that I can think of has done more for fishery conservation and habitat in North America than Phil Morlock,” said CSF President Jeff Crane.
