December 22, 2011 (Washington, DC) - The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF), in cooperation with the Armed Forces Foundation (AFF), donated a guided duck and goose hunt on the Eastern Shore of Maryland this week for wounded Marine Corps veterans Derick Kincaid and Dalton Cox.
The veterans hunt was held in remembrance of the 10th Anniversary of the 9/11terrorist attack. The hunt was auctioned at the CSF 22nd Annual Banquet & Auction in Washington, DC in September.
"We and our partners are proud to work alongside the Armed Forces Foundation to honor our veterans and provide an exciting and memorable hunt for two heroes, Derick and Dalton," said CSF President Jeff Crane. "All military veterans should be thanked for their service and we hope that all of them have the opportunity to participate in the American traditions of hunting and fishing."
Prior to the hunt, Derick and Dalton also each received a full outfit of waterfowl hunting gear; Browning Silver Hunter 12 gauge shotguns; Browning waterfowl bags, headlamps, and knives; Winchester 12 gauge ammunition (Blind Side, Super-X Drylok, and Double A Target Load); Winchester jackets, hats, and layered long johns; Cabela’s waterfowl hunting bibs, jackets, and gloves; and hunting boots and socks from LaCrosse Footwear.
“It’s like Christmas, but only earlier,” said Dalton.
The Marine’s shot ducks in the morning, shot skeet in the afternoon, and finished up with a mid afternoon goose hunt. Both Derick and Dalton brought home Mallards, Black Ducks, and Canada Geese. The duck hunt was secured by Bill and Sarah D’Alonzo of Turner Creek Farms and guided by Al Piaseki and Mike Mabry. The goose hunt was donated by Dr. Harry Sears of Grasslands Plantation and guided by Greg Cole and Henry Davis. A special thanks to Dr. Harry Sears for his support of CSF and our armed forces.
Lodging for Derick, Dalton and the AFF Staff was provided by The Imperial Hotel and lunch provided by the Blue Bird Cafe. Also making this trip possible were Travis and Corinne Light of Shore Country Outdoors and Phil and Lisa Hoon.
