While CSF works in the concrete jungle of Washington, DC, we understand that sportsmen ‘back home’ need access to places to hunt, shoot and fish. Equally as important to ensuring access to federal land, is maintaining access to state lands.
ISSUE: ACCESS TO STATE PUBLIC LANDS
Access to hunting lands is the biggest challenge to many sportsmen and a top rated reason why they leave the sport. If no one is paying attention, access to state hunting lands will slowly, but surely disappear.
ACTION: GAINING GROUND ON ACCESS
Every day hunting land is lost to development and restrictive regulations that preclude its use. Through No Net Loss legislation, NASC and state sportsmen's caucuses are gaining ground on ensuring state public hunting lands will always be available by requiring states maintain at least the level of available public hunting land that currently exists and opening new lands if current areas are closed. The goal of No Net Loss is to create a baseline of public hunting areas that are always open to hunting, guaranteeing that future generations have the same opportunities that we enjoy today.
