Hunting & Trapping
From access issues to commonly use tools, it seems as though there is legislation targeting every aspect of hunting and trapping in order to enhance sportsmen's ability to enjoy their sports.
Hunting & Fishing Access Issue Briefs:
Right to Hunt and Fish - In order to establish that hunting, fishing and trapping have long been a part of our American heritage, states are amending their constitutions to recognize these activities as an inherent right, not privileges as anti-hunting organizations would have the public believe.
Apprentice Hunting License - These licenses are to encourage and recruit potential young hunters to enter the sport.
College Student Hunting/Fishing License - Because college students are prone to being prohibited from hunting, these licenses provide opportunities to increase hunter and angler recruitment and retention from this demographic.
Terminally Ill Youth Hunting Opportunities - These opportunities are used toe enrich the lives of terminally ill youth by facilitating, at no cost and via special permit, hunting and fishing opportunities.
Crossbows - By incorporating crossbows into the classification of acceptable hunting equipment hunter recruitment and retention may increase. There are several ways states can incorporate and regulate the use of crossbows.
Seniors, Veterans and Active Duty Military Hunting and Angling Privileges - Creates privileges for those with years of commitment to conservation or who are serving our country in the armed forces.
Knife Definitions - Regulations on the types of knives people can carry and attempts to broaden the definition of a "switch blade" knife has the potentil to affect 80% of sporting knives sold in the U.S. By amending such legislation, the knives sportsmen use can be protected.
Knife Preemption - This type of legislation would protect knife owners from local variations of knife restrictions by making the state the sole authority on knife laws.
Modern Restraining Animal Traps - Research efforts continue to develop modern restraining animal traps that meet Best Management Practices.
