(6/2/05) President Bush Declares June 2005 "Great Outdoors Month" - No one understands the value of our nation's outdoor heritage more than the sportsmen who take to the field and waters each year. Through taxes on sporting equipment and license fees, sportsmen generate hundreds of millions of dollars annually to preserve America's open spaces, restore wildlife habitat and support game and nongame species alike.
(4/29/05) State Fish & Wildlife Agencies to Receive More Than $530 Million in Sportsmen’s Excise Taxes - Excise taxes paid by the nation’s hunters, shooters, archers, fishermen and boaters will supply more than $530 million for state fish and wildlife agencies this year, according to an announcement by the US Fish & Wildlife Service on Wednesday.
 
(3/18/05) CSF Policy Director Welcomes Secretary of Agriculture to Meeting of Sportsmen's Groups - Jeff Crane, CSF's Director of Policy, and 2005 Chairman of the American Wildlife Conservation Partners (AWCP), welcomed newly appointed Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Johanns, at an AWCP meeting held on March 17 in conjunction with the North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference.

(2/25/05) CSF Policy Director meets with Secretary of Interior Gale Norton - Jeff Crane, CSF's Director of Policy, and current 2005 Chairman of the American Wildlife Conservation Partners (AWCP), recently met with Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton to discuss issues of interest to sportsmen.

 

(2/10/05) Bush Administration releases FY '06 Budget - On Monday February 7, the Bush administration unveiled a $2.57 trillion budget for fiscal year 2006 that cuts non-discretionary spending for non-defense or security related programs by close to 1 percent -- the first such cut since the Reagan presidency.

 
(2/1/05) HSUS Announces Lobbying Arm; Sportsmen's Caucuses Will Play Key Role in Fighting Legislative Efforts - No doubt formed in reaction to the increasing effectiveness of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus and the newly formed National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses, the Humane Society of the United States announced today that it is taking animal advocacy to a whole new level with the launch of a new lobbying arm.
