Industry Rallies in Support of CSF

Washington, DC - On March 15th, industry leaders, politicians and other friends of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) faced off in the first annual Industry Challenge at the National Shooting Complex outside of San Antonio, TX. This event was conceived by CSF industry supporter Wal-Mart and co-hosted by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's

"One of the biggest challenges CSF faces is getting the hunting and fishing industries familiar with what CSF does for sportsmen in Congress. The purpose of the event was to create awareness among the sporting industry about the important role CSF plays in protecting the interests of sportsmen and women in the U.S. Congress. In doing so, CSF helps to protect the industry's bottom-line by ensuring that federal funding is appropriated for conservation and hunter education programs," said Mike McFadden, Vice President and Divisional Merchandise Manager for Wal-Mart. "We had a great turn out with representatives from several hunting and fishing manufacturers. Thanks to all that participated in the shoot for helping the Foundation and, even more importantly, the American sportsman. It is important in the business we are in [sporting goods] to put something back to support the industry."

More than 30 teams participated, raising $80,000 to support CSF's mission and work in Washington, DC.

Teams representing many facets of the hunting industry, including ATK-Federal Cartridge, Gerber Blades and Primos Hunting Calls, shot trap, skeet and sporting clays in a friendly competition to establish "bragging rights". The high overall teams for the day included Winchester Ammunition in the Championship Division, the CSF Bird Busters in Division I and Outdoor Products in Division II. The High Skeet Team was Ducks Unlimited while Winchester Ammunition took both the High Trap Team and the High Sporting Clays Team. High Individual for the day was Allan Treadwell, with the Safari Club International team, who shot an impressive 145.
