Minnesota Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus

Originally formed in 1994, Minnesota was one of the 21 founding state legislative sportsmen's caucuses that united to form the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC) in December of 2004.  After functioning independently within their own state legislature, Minnesota policymakers now had a common network for the interaction of ideas and a resource to help advance issues important to sportsmen in their home states.

Since affilitation with NASC in 2004, the Minnesota Sportsmen's Caucus has passed legislation:

  • Giving youth and other newcomers expanded opportunity to hunt
  • Encouraging walk-in public access programs for hunting and fishing
  • Offering special hunting and/or fishing licenses for veterans and members of the military
  • Enhancing funding for fish and wildlife
  • Banning the unethical practice of remote hunting via the internet

Ranking 5th in spending and 7th nationally in total number of sportsmen, the North Star State's 1,280,000 hunters and anglers spend $3.4-billion and support 55,000 jobs annually.
