Tuesday, November 17, 2009 (Garden City, KS): The Kansas Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus hosted its 2nd annual dinner in Garden City last Tuesday followed by the Great Western Kansas Pheasant hunt at Beaver's Game Farm on Wednesday.

Over 80 people were in attendance, including members of the Kansas legislature, as well as members of the Kansas conservation community and representatives of the outdoor industry. The dinner was hosted by the Garden City Regional Chamber of Commerce.

"This dinner and hunt proved what NASC is trying to accomplish. People drove 400 miles to participate and are already asking about next year's hunt. People in KS realize that we need to stay connected at the state level and with our federal representatives to protect our hunting and fishing heritage," said Rep. Gary Hayzlett, founding member of the Kansas Legislative Sportmen's Caucus.

Thirty shooters, including 15 members of the Kansas legislature, and special guest, Rep. Mike Pitts of South Carolina, President of the Executive Council of the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses, participated in the pheasant hunt.
