Florida Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus
Florida was one of the 21 original state legislative sportsmen's caucuses that united to form the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC) in December of 2004. After functioning independently within their own state legislature, Florida policymakers joined a common network to interact with legislative sportsmen's caucuses across the nation.
Representative Baxter Troutman, Caucus Chair and NASC Executive Council Member commented that "Florida's unique natural resources make it a destination state for outdoor recreation enthusiasts. Florida's vast coastline fishery and home of the Osceola Turkey are but two examples. The Florida Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus will continue to work in concert with the hunting and fishing communities to protect these sensitive resources and educate future generations of their importance both historically and economically.
Ranking second overall in the nation, The Sunshine State's 2-million hunters and anglers spend $4.8-billion per year and support 85,000 jobs.
